ser 與 estar 都是西班牙語中，表達 to be 的動詞，其現在式變化(不規則)如下：

ser

1. 表國籍, 出生地：

     例：Soy de Taiwán.

             (I am from Taiwan.)

2. 表持久, 永久之特徵：

     例：Ella es hermosa.

             (She is beautiful.)

3. 表時間：

     例：Son las dos.

             (It is two o'clock.)

4. 表日期：

     例：Es el 8 de agosto.

             (It is August 8th.)

5. 表職業, 身分：

     例：Él es estudiante.

              (He is a student.)

estar

1. 表暫時的特徵：

   例：Ella está enferma.

              (She is sick.)

2. 表地點：

     例：Están en Madrid.

              (They are in Madrid.)

3. 構成現在進行式：

     例：Estoy hablando con mi amiga.

              (I am talking with my friend<female>.)
